Job description
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the delivery of 132kV cabling installation project in Fort Augustus, with future projects located in the East of Scotland. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of project delivery, ensuring works are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
This is a site-based role requiring full-time attendance on project sites. Candidates must be willing to travel and work across various project locations as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of 132kV cable installation and associated civil engineering works.
- Set out and survey works in accordance with project specifications and design drawings.
- Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with technical, quality, environmental, and safety requirements.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams to maintain project progress and productivity.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Prepare and maintain site records, including daily reports, inspections, and as-built information.
- Assist with quality assurance processes, inspections, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Identify and resolve technical issues on site, escalating where necessary.
- Support project planning and programme management to ensure milestones are achieved.
- Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across the project.
Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience as a Site Engineer on utility, power, or infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in cable installation projects, preferably at transmission-voltage levels.
- Strong knowledge of power transmission and distribution networks.
- Experience working with HV/LV systems and associated construction activities.
- Understanding of civil engineering works associated with cable routes, ducting, trenches, and reinstatement.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel and work across project locations as required.
Desirable
- Experience working on 132kV or higher voltage projects.
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- CSCS card.
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
- National Grid, SSE, or other transmission network experience.
- Knowledge of cable testing, commissioning, and energisation processes.
