Job Description: A long established civil engineering contractor from central Scotland require a Technical Manager to join their Glasgow-based team on a permanent basis. The business delivers residential groundworks packages for some of the industry's most well-known and reputable house builders. The position would suit either an experienced Technical Manager or a Site/Ground modelling engineer looking to take the next step in their career.
Role & Responsibilities: Pre-contract: Calculate earthworks quantities and produce cut/fill analysis & associated drawings Value engineering of earthworks Site visit/walkovers Site investigation analysis Pre-contract site walkovers Assisting commercial team with drawing take offs if required
Post-contract: Formulate earthworks strategy/soil management plans in conjunction with site team and produce associated drawings Update earthworks quantities as works progress on site Carry out material take-offs Manage technical queries/RFI’s in conjunction with site engineers Oversee receipt, register and issue of site drawings and other relevant contract document Produce and update site Health & Safety plans with assistance from H&S consultant Assist site team with RAMS for specific tasks on site Arrange all on site material testing & CCTV sewer surveys as required Liaise with relevant parties to obtain existing live service information Procurement of traffic management contractors when required Manage training matrix and oversee continued training of site staff with external training providers
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following: Educated to at least HNC level in civil engineering or similar relevant discipline Previous experience working for a Groundworks Contractor within housebuilding sector Strong team player Excellent communication skills IT literate with working knowledge of N4CE (or similar), Microsoft Project (or similar), Autocad & Microsoft Office Hold valid UK driving licence
