Job Summary

Multi-disciplined contractor enjoying a particularly exciting period of growth. Specialising in education, healthcare, leisure and high end retail projects, this contractor have an exceptional reputation in the industry.

We are recruiting for an experienced and pro-active Health & Safety Manager who will primarily be responsible for managing and implementing the health, safety and environmental aspects of the group. This role will be split between head office in Glasgow with regular visits to site.


Responsibilities / Essential Criteria

Must be up to date with environmental health & safety legislation
Able to create robust management systems to comply with legislation
Translate management system into actions required across the company
Ensure all employees receive suitable environmental health & safety training
Maintain and develop all safe systems of work. Create and update annual training plan
Be part of the senior management team
Combined ISO 9001, 18001 & 9001 audits, being part of the team achieving these standards for the company
Ensure Construction Health & Safety Plans are in place prior to the commencement of projects
Monitor and review site performance through weekly inspections, including assessments of all Method Statements and Risk Assessments
Ensure all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated
Agree remedial action with site management on any non-conformance and carry out follow up review to ensure implementation
Prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policy
Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all HSE legislation and any developments that affect the company
Ensure the implications of changes in legislation and safety management techniques are communicated and implemented throughout the Company and Supply Chain.
Participate in weekly/monthly meetings when required to report on relevant health & safety matters
Maintain and implement relevant quality and environmental control procedures
Continually develop knowledge of health and safety to enhance the business and fulfill company requirements
